Bike Decisions

It’s getting near that terrible time.

I know there’ll be sleepless nights. Gnashing and wailing (whaling?! :-) ) too probably!

Yup, we’re not far off me finally going out and getting a bike again - I can almost feel your elation and joy for me as we approach this momentous occasion.

Alright, so its not actually that important to everyone else. It is to me though. What should I be aiming for, faired or naked. Do I want a ‘multi’ or twin? And (in case it is crossing your mind) I have heard the advice before that ‘wouldn’t every man rather have twins?’.

For the time being, the bike will be second in line behind the search for a car. Since arriving here, I’ve noticed that Kiwis tend to favour dealerships more than private car trading, which I found a bit odd, given their apparent desire to get a bargain when possible. And a bargain is something you rarely get at a (st)ealership.

My mate Steve has had some wise words on stealers in the Welly area, and a work colleague Damian has brought Turners to my awareness, which as a reputable car auction house is looking like a potential go-er. They not only inspect cars themselves before auction, you can get the thing professionally inspected by e.g. AA equivalent, and the prices are pretty keen. Most of it is jap import stuff (some of which I never even heard of) but all sensible mileage, good brands, and not knackered old sh*te that you would fear you find at auctions.

Auctions are every Saturday in Welly, if we’re about next week, might take a look. Otherwise we’ll have to crack on the weekend after, its getting near the end of the rental car allowance.
