7 weeks to Mother-in-Law!

Yup, 7 weeks from now Sharon's mum, June, will be landing on these shores...

Am I scared? Nah...to use another popular Kiwi phrase, she's "good as gold!" - a phrase I believe comes from the gold-rush days of the 19th century when prospectors were out and about in various areas of the South Island finding gold nuggets just lying around for anyone to come along and pick up!

We'll actually be travelling some of their paths when we drive around on our tour of the S.I. I guess - certainly Queenstown was one of the areas that supported prospecting for gold back then, just as today it supports adrenalin and winter sports. Speaking to a colleague earlier, parachuting is one of the adrenalin-junkie activities run out of Queenstown, and I've also fancied trying that for ages now (despite the small matter of getting past my inbuilt fears about throwing myself out of a plane mid-air!).

Then again, quite fancy doing a track day in a GT3 up at Taupo... and of course it ain't a bottom-less pit!

Milford Sound is booked!

Hot off the press! Just arranged flights from Queenstown and a boat cruise on Milford Sound for the Thursday when we're there! If the weather lets us down we can go on the Friday instead, which is a big relief given its allegedly one of the wettest places in the world...
