Its actually becoming a bit nippy, down here in the wilds of the Southern Pacific.
Yes, winter is taking hold in New Zealand. Mind you, still get some cracking sunny days and its not THAT cold - Wellington is kinda fortunate in that it doesn't generally get the same extremes as places like Christchurch for example. This time of year they're already getting freezing temperatures at night, whereas here its down to maybe 7 degrees, with daytime about 14-16.
Ok, we're not in full winter time yet, that'll be end of June onwards I reckon :-)
And Kiwis being Kiwis (particularly the young'uns) they haven't all abandoned their jandles (flip flops) and shorts yet, crazy people! Those of us from the Northern hemisphere and of slightly greater maturity (ok, old people) wouldn't dream of wearing nothing on the feet in such temperatures, never mind flimsy shorts!
Looking across the ditch, the weather is also heading towards the cool end of the scale, although for most places that still means pretty reasonable daytime temps and not too cold at night either. Places like Brisbane are looking pretty nice, if you trust their meteorologists... http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ10095.shtml
Still ripper for a barby mate!
