I've joined the village men's club!
Ok, now to clarify, for all those thinking he's finally outed himself, or gone all backward, this is actually a quaint old club that was set up at the end of the 19th century to allow the working men of St Johns to buy a pint at a reasonable price, since there was no public house for them.
Amazingly, the club is still going today, and to join you just have to get an existing member to take you along - its not flash, although there's a FULL-SIZE snooker table (priorities obviously well in order) and a bar serving good beers at about 1/2 the price the pub nearby charges.
Oh, did I mention, no women are allowed? :-)
Made me laugh even before I got through the door, but inside its very friendly, relaxed and even allows guys to bring their (well-behaved) dogs in after a walk around St Johns Lye.
Couple of my neighbours are members, hence me even bothering to go along. Now I'm actually looking forward (Arther Daley style) to the odd chance to slip away and dodge the possible grief I'd otherwise get from failing to tidy up my room.
