Another week...

Man, has it already been a week since the last blog post???

Despite my obvious disregard of the seconds ticking by, there are some items of note to bring to your attention.

Sir Ed Hillary's funeral took place on Tuesday this week, in Parnell (near Auckland I think) with thousands of visitors paying their final respects - none of the Royals turned up, provoking some 'disgruntlement' (is that a word? it is now!), but then Kiwis are kinda used to being overlooked aren't they...

Monday was a public holiday for Wellingtonians (alright, we slip into the category purely as local residents rather than having been born here) and so we thought we'd round off the long weekend with a visit to a free music event at the Sound Shell in Wellington's Botanical Gardens. Had it not been for the rain and wind breaking loose about an hour before, we would have gone too! All weekend gorgeous sunshine, and then Mon night, when we actually want to go out and do something, it rains and blows.
Still, Sunday was so nice I actually got out and sunbathed in the garden, as opposed to hiding in the safety of the conservatory :-)

A mate from church, Tim, sent out an email on Wed about arranging a week up at the lodge at Mount Ruapehu in October! I mean, October! that's ages away, a whole 2 seasons in fact! Goes to show how mad he is on ski-ing though eh! ;)

Here he is, in fact, just before one of his death-defying speed runs.

Alright, that's not Tim, obviously. Its the other great English downhill hero, Eddie the Eagle! Did you know they're making a film about him? Starring Steve Coogan as the man himself, its getting underway at the moment apparently.

Brilliant!!!!!!!!!
